Luma Fertility, a Mumbai-based startup offering tech-enabled fertility services, has secured $4 million in seed funding to scale its operations across India. The company, founded by serial entrepreneur Neha K. Motwani after her personal experience with fertility treatment, aims to address widespread gaps in the country’s reproductive healthcare system.

The investment round was led by Peak XV’s Surge programme, with additional backing from notable industry names such as Ameera Shah of Metropolis Healthcare and Vijay Taparia of B2V Ventures. The funding will be used to strengthen Luma’s operational footprint and respond to increasing demand for transparent, technology-integrated fertility care.

Luma currently runs a flagship 6,000 square foot clinic in Mumbai, which is among the largest and most technologically advanced fertility centres in the country. The clinic is equipped with an in-house laboratory offering IVF, fertility assessments, and cryopreservation of eggs and embryos.

“In my own experience and after speaking to hundreds of women, it became clear that fertility care in India is broken. It’s optimized for systems, not people,” said Neha Motwani, Founder of Luma Fertility. “At Luma, we’ve rebuilt it entirely around the patient.”

The startup sets itself apart with several unique features, including a transparent embryology lab, personalised care through dedicated specialists, and India’s first integrated IVF app for real-time tracking, report access, and medication guidance. Luma also provides AI-powered support through its LumaAI tool, along with home semen testing, acupuncture, IV therapies, nutritional guidance, and emotional wellbeing support.

“Fertility care in India is at an inflection point. What drew me to Luma is their full-stack, customer-first approach,” said Ameera Shah, Executive Chairperson of Metropolis Healthcare. “Neha and her team are reimagining fertility with a clear vision to transform how care is delivered.”

Luma’s core team includes Chief Embryologist Chirag Shah, Medical Director Dr. Radhika Sheth, and strategic advisor Preeta Sukhtankar. The company intends to scale operations in Mumbai and expand into other Indian cities within the next two years, tapping into the country’s rapidly growing fertility sector.

“There is a clear need for consumer-first healthcare in India, especially in verticals like fertility,” said Vijay Taparia, Chairman of B2V Ventures. “Luma’s patient-first, outcome-driven approach paves the way for better care.”

As awareness around fertility health increases and family planning timelines shift, Luma’s integrated digital-clinical model positions it as a strong contender in India’s expanding reproductive health market.
