Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has revealed plans to collaborate with world-renowned chefs Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten ahead of its opening in late 2026. The announcement marks a significant addition to the city’s high-end dining scene, bringing two highly influential culinary figures to the Malaysian capital.
Chef Garima Arora, the first Indian female chef to lead a Michelin-starred restaurant, will introduce a modern Indian concept named Yaari. The name translates to “friendship” in Hindi and focuses on regional Indian flavours reimagined through contemporary techniques. The menu is expected to feature refined versions of traditional street foods and sweets, showcasing diverse dishes from across the Indian subcontinent.
Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a French chef with over four decades of experience, will debut three distinct venues at the hotel. These include JG KL, a fine-dining space blending French and Asian influences; abc kitchens KL, a seasonal farm-to-table concept; and The Bar by JG. Vongerichten is widely recognised for his flagship two-Michelin-starred restaurant in New York and his ability to combine classic technique with fresh, vibrant flavours.
Hotel management stated that these partnerships are part of a broader vision to establish the property as a leading gastronomic destination in Southeast Asia. The hotel plans to announce further dining venues as it nears its official debut.
