Eight Sleep, known as the world’s first sleep fitness company, has closed a $100 million funding round to drive its mission of turning beds into AI-powered health devices.
The new investment will support the company’s efforts to expand AI-driven sleep optimisation, grow into medical applications, and extend its international presence. Investors in the round included HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, alongside high-profile backers such as Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren F1 CEO Zak Brown.
The business has already passed $500 million in Pod sales, increased revenue tenfold since launching the Pod, and processed over one billion hours of sleep data. With products spanning hardware, software, AI, and supplements, Eight Sleep has positioned itself as a key player in the booming sleep technology market, serving customers across more than 30 countries.
“Eight Sleep has developed a turn-key solution for sleep and health optimization: hardware, software, AI, and consumer goods that dynamically adjust around each person’s needs,” said Matteo Franceschetti, Co-Founder and CEO of Eight Sleep. “This new funding enables us to accelerate the deployment of AI for sleep optimization, expand into medical applications like menopausal sleep and sleep apnea, and bring our technology to millions of people around the world.”
Introducing the Sleep Agent
A large portion of the funding will go towards advancing Eight Sleep’s AI strategy, beginning with the launch of what it calls the world’s first Sleep Agent. The technology applies large language models to human physiology, moving beyond conversational AI into live, real-world optimisation.
The Sleep Agent processes biometric information and creates thousands of digital twins per user, allowing it to run predictive models. It can then make intelligent adjustments to elements such as temperature, elevation, and bedtime routines to maximise recovery each night. This marks a move from passive sleep tracking to proactive interventions.
This innovation builds on Eight Sleep’s existing Autopilot system, which already carries out millions of adjustments nightly based on behaviour and biofeedback. With the new AI-driven modelling, the company aims to anticipate a sleeper’s needs and act in advance.
“We’re creating digital twins of your sleep physiology to simulate, test, and personalize your recovery before you even close your eyes,” explained Franceschetti. “This is the next frontier: AI that doesn’t just track you, it understands and adapts to you in real time.”
Expanding into Medical Sleep Solutions
Eight Sleep also intends to channel investment into healthcare-focused applications. Its Pod already tracks cardiovascular and respiratory activity with up to 99% accuracy, and the company is now exploring ways to address medical sleep conditions. Initial efforts will focus on menopausal sleep difficulties and sleep apnea, with the aim of seeking FDA approval for certain treatments.
Recently, Eight Sleep launched a Hot Flash Mode, which uses dynamic cooling to reduce symptoms linked to menopause. The company is now working on AI-based interventions for sleep apnea that will rely on contactless monitoring and real-time physical adjustments.
Growing the Global Presence
Alongside product development, Eight Sleep will accelerate its international strategy. The company is preparing to enter the Chinese market, adding to its current availability in over 30 countries, including the UK, Canada, the EU, Australia, Mexico, and the UAE.
With the new funding secured, Eight Sleep is aiming to cement its position as a global leader in AI-powered sleep optimisation, combining consumer wellness with clinical applications.
