Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe was born on July 28, 1964. She is Fidelity Bank Plc’s Chief Executive Officer and Group Managing Director. She became the first female Managing Director/CEO in the bank’s history when she was named in January 2021 after joining Fidelity Bank in 2015 as an Executive Director.
Early life and education
The birthplace of Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe is Lagos, Nigeria. She also attended the Federal Government Girls’ College in Owerri, Imo State. She was named an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2023. She also holds an honorary doctorate in business administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Dr. Ken Onyeali Ikpe, PhD, a pioneer in marketing, branding, and consumer consulting, is Onyeali-Ikpe’s husband.
Career
She started her financial career in 1990 as a legal officer with African Continental Bank, which has since closed. Subsequently, she was employed by First African Trust Bank as a Treasury Officer. Later on, she worked for Standard Chartered Bank and Zenith Bank, respectively.
Onyeali-Ikpe has had executive roles at Citizens International Bank, Zenith Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank. She has played a key role in structuring intricate transactions in several industries, including manufacturing, oil and gas, real estate, aviation, and export.
