In a significant move, Danielle Jones-Hunte, a former Miss Trinidad and Tobago, has been appointed as Vice President of Communications and External Affairs for BP’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) operations. This new chapter in her career begins on March 1, 2025, with Jones-Hunte set to lead BP’s regional strategy under the guidance of Nader Zaki, SVP/CEO of BP’s MENA business.

Jones-Hunte’s journey to this role has been nothing short of remarkable. With over 15 years of experience in strategic communications, she has navigated high-stakes environments across London, Mumbai, and Washington, DC. Her expertise spans the energy, finance, and public relations sectors, where she has played a crucial role in multi-billion-dollar mergers and acquisitions and crisis communications.

“Leadership is about listening and continuous learning,” said Jones-Hunte. “Every challenge presents an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and drive strategic success. My approach has always been about understanding different audiences and creating pathways for collaboration that advance business goals.”

Jones-Hunte’s success can be attributed to her ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and foster cross-sector partnerships. Her early days at the T&T Unit Trust Corporation taught her the importance of strategic networking and stakeholder engagement, skills that have been pivotal in her global business leadership.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jones-Hunte is a certified executive coach with a leadership certificate from Stanford University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from Florida International University and a Master’s degree in Communication and Culture from Howard University.  Her diverse background includes roles such as an Associate Professor at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and a stint as a Trinidad and Tobago culture ambassador.

As she prepares to take on her new role in Oman, Jones-Hunte remains committed to leveraging her expertise to drive BP’s strategic objectives in the MENA region. Her appointment highlights BP’s focus on strengthening its external affairs and communications function to align with evolving industry landscapes and global energy priorities. With her proven track record in corporate strategy and stakeholder engagement, Jones-Hunte is poised to make a significant impact in the region.
