Wellspect HealthCare has announced the United States launch of the Surity™ Female External Catheter, a non-invasive device designed to support women living with severe urinary incontinence.

The product was unveiled on 26 January, with the company stating that Surity™ marks its entry into a new category of continence care. Wellspect HealthCare, a global provider of continence care solutions, has more than 40 years of experience in the sector and is known for established brands including LoFric® and Navina™.

According to Wellspect HealthCare, severe urinary incontinence affects more than 13 million Americans and presents ongoing challenges for both patients and caregivers. The condition has been linked to disrupted sleep, falls, dehydration, skin breakdown, emotional distress and caregiver exhaustion, while management options remain limited. The company said Surity™ has been developed to address these gaps by offering a non-invasive, easy-to-place option that can be used with compatible urine collection systems.

The device is intended for use in both home care and healthcare settings, with a focus on reducing strain for caregivers and supporting dignified care for women managing severe urinary incontinence. Wellspect HealthCare said the design aims to make daily routines more manageable while improving comfort in an area of care with few alternatives.

“Severe urinary incontinence affects millions of women, many of whom live with multiple health conditions. The impact of severe urinary incontinence reaches far beyond the inconvenience of leaks, contributing to sleep loss, emotional distress and exhaustion for both patients and their caregivers,” said Chris Schlenk, Group Vice President, Wellspect HealthCare. “As leaders in continence care, we’re determined to support patients and caregivers by offering a reliable and accessible management option designed to restore comfort, rest and confidence to those who have lived with these silent struggles for too long.”

Wellspect HealthCare said Surity™ has been engineered to help prevent leakage, protect skin integrity and support extended overnight use. The company added that the product is intended to support more predictable management of severe urinary incontinence across ageing, neurologic and mobility-limited populations.

The Surity™ Female External Catheter is now available for home purchase in the United States, with availability for healthcare institutions expected to follow. Wellspect HealthCare also confirmed plans to launch the Surity™ Urinary Management System and a male external catheter later this year.
