As International Women’s Day approaches, the University of Brighton is gearing up to host a pivotal panel discussion on March 6, 2025. This event will offer local women business leaders an opportunity to share their perspectives, drive transformation, and discuss strategies to overcome systemic obstacles in leadership, education, and economic engagement.

The discussion aims to inspire change and strengthen inclusivity, empowering attendees to champion women’s voices in leadership roles. The event will take place at the Moulsecoomb campus and will unite four women business leaders from various sectors. They will share their experiences and insights on how to address systemic challenges in leadership, education, and economic participation.

The panel is part of the University of Brighton’s broader commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society. By providing a platform for local business leaders to share their stories, the university seeks to drive meaningful progress towards gender equity. This event is open to students, professionals, and the public, offering a unique opportunity for networking and collaboration.

Professor Catherine Robinson, Dean of the University of Brighton’s School of Business and Law, said: “Here at the University of Brighton, we’re leading the way in responsible education, striving to create a more inclusive and equitable society in our city and beyond. International Women’s Day allows us to focus on the critical need to address gender inequality, and to recognise that closing the gender pay and influence gaps benefits everyone. I’m delighted that our students and staff will be able to hear from our inspiring panel of leaders, which includes former University of Brighton graduates who have gone on to make their mark in the world of business. This day is about both acknowledging the challenges women face and celebrating their remarkable contributions.”

The event is co-organised by the School of Business and Law, Women in Business Society, and Marketing Society, with sponsorship from the Help to Grow: Management Course. It aligns with the UN’s International Women’s Day 2025 theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” This marks the second instalment of the university’s Women in Leadership event series, reinforcing its dedication to supporting local businesses and advancing women in leadership roles.

By hosting such events, the University of Brighton demonstrates its commitment to encouraging innovation, diversity, and leadership in both business and education. The goal is to empower future leaders to drive meaningful change in society, ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, is equipped to innovate and progress in their respective industries.

The upcoming event will feature a distinguished panel, including Mo Kanjilal, a University of Brighton alumna, a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion leader, speaker, and entrepreneur, co-founder of Watch This Sp_ce (a multi-award-winning diversity and inclusion company committed to helping organisations build inclusive workforces and drive positive change), Amy Oldham, Founder of Curious Being and Commercial Director of KOKO Studios. Sarah Hollinsworth – Chief of Staff, Barclays Corporate Secretariat, and Pippa Moyle – CEO & Founder, City Girl Networ. These leaders will bring their expertise to the forefront, offering valuable insights into overcoming systemic barriers and encouraging inclusive environments.
