Siemens Smart Infrastructure, together with Cadolto Datacenter GmbH and Legrand Data Center Solutions, has launched a new modular edge data centre designed for rapid deployment, flexibility, and sustainability. Unveiled at Data Center World Frankfurt on 4–5 June 2025, this turnkey solution offers fully integrated, prefabricated modules that can be tailored to specific operational needs and installed or expanded swiftly, with planning cycles as short as six to 12 months.

Unlike traditional containerised data centres, these modules provide greater customisation and support a wide range of workloads, from basic tasks to high-density AI computing. Siemens integrates its comprehensive Smart Infrastructure technologies, including power distribution, building automation, fire safety, and physical security systems, ensuring seamless operation. Optional maintenance and 24/7 emergency service contracts add further reliability.

Cadolto Datacenter acts as the manufacturer and general contractor, delivering the prefabricated buildings with built-in climate control, while Legrand supplies the IT white space infrastructure, such as racks, structured cabling, intelligent Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.

“With digital transformation accelerating across every industry, our customers need infrastructure that moves as fast as they do,” said Ciaran Flanagan, Global Head of Data Center Solutions & Services at Siemens AG. “This solution offers all the performance of a traditional data centre, but with the agility to scale quickly, tailored to our customers’ specific needs. When ramping up capacity, it’s just a case of plugging it in.”

The data centres are suitable for both permanent and temporary use, ideal for applications ranging from secure high-performance computing in pharmaceuticals to temporary setups in automotive testing or constrained office spaces. Flexible rental models allow businesses to deploy IT infrastructure quickly without upfront costs, perfect for short-term projects or lab environments.

Each unit is precision-engineered off-site and delivered ready to operate, minimising disruption and allowing live upgrades without downtime. The construction process produces around 30% fewer CO₂ emissions, achieves a 90% recycling rate, and uses fully reusable components, reflecting a commitment to sustainable digital infrastructure.

This innovative modular edge data centre represents a significant step forward in meeting the growing demand for agile, efficient, and environmentally responsible computing facilities.
