Southeast Asian banking institutions TMBTHANACHART Bank Public Company Limited (ttb) and DBS Bank Ltd. have entered into a strategic wealth management partnership to expand investment opportunities, digital portfolio advisory services, and cross-border financial planning for retail and high-net-worth clients in Thailand.

The agreement brings together the global investment network and wealth infrastructure of Singapore-headquartered DBS – the largest bank in Southeast Asia by assets – with ttb’s established domestic distribution channel and client relationships in the Thai banking sector. By linking DBS’s international capabilities directly into ttb’s wealth ecosystem, the partnership aims to provide Thai investors with broader diversification tools and structured portfolio advisory tailored to long-term wealth preservation and generational transfer.

Structuring the First Operational Phase

The initial implementation of the agreement centers on consolidating local domestic wealth operations under ttb’s specialized wealth subsidiary. Subject to individual client consent and customary regulatory approvals, Thai baht-denominated investment portfolios currently administered by DBS Vickers Securities (Thailand) (DBSVT) will be transferred to ttb wealth securities.

This operational migration is scheduled for completion by May 2027. Under the transition framework, DBSVT will initiate direct client communications to manage the consent process, while both institutions coordinate operational handovers to ensure uninterrupted access to local market products, custody services, and account management.

The transaction structure allows both banks to sharpen their respective core market focuses in Thailand. Following the portfolio transfer, clients will retain access to local market securities via ttb wealth securities alongside broader institutional lifestyle privileges. Concurrently, DBS will maintain its direct presence in Thailand’s private wealth market, serving high-net-worth individuals holding non-Thai baht portfolios through its existing offshore private banking division. DBSVT’s Equity Institutional Sales (EIS) unit will also continue standard market operations without structural modification.

Addressing the strategic rationale behind the agreement and ttb’s approach to client portfolio construction, Mr. Piti Tantakasem, Chief Executive Officer of ttb, stated:

“At ttb, we are committed to improving our customers’ financial well-being throughout every stage of their lives. We believe sustainable wealth management is not simply about selecting the investment product with the highest return. Rather, it begins with a deep understanding of each customer’s life goals, supported by tailored financial and investment solutions, well-structured portfolios, and trusted advisory that align with their unique aspirations. This is made possible by a team that truly understands each customer’s individual needs and financial journey.

Our role is to stand alongside customers as they build, grow, and pass on their wealth across generations. Partnering with a strong institution like DBS strengthens our Wealth Ecosystem by expanding investment opportunities and further enhancing our wealth management capabilities, enabling us to better serve High-Net-Worth customers with more comprehensive and differentiated solutions.

This marks only the beginning of a broader strategic partnership. We look forward to further developing this collaboration to help customers achieve their financial goals throughout every stage of life and preserve their wealth for future generations.”

Expanding Cross-Border Investment Capabilities

Beyond the immediate consolidation of domestic holdings, the alliance creates a framework for future product integration between Singapore and Thailand. Subsequent phases of the alliance will explore introducing selected global asset management products, offshore funds, and structured investment solutions from DBS’s regional platform directly into ttb’s domestic wealth pipeline.

The joint initiative aims to address growing demand among Thai investors for international asset exposure, multi-currency diversification, and sophisticated risk management tools. By combining DBS’s digital wealth analytics with ttb’s local market presence, both institutions plan to build a integrated advisory ecosystem designed to support client portfolios across changing economic cycles.

Highlighting the operational synergies and regional wealth management trends driving the alliance, Mr. Shee Tse Koon, Group Head of Consumer Banking & Wealth Management at DBS Bank, stated:

“DBS and ttb share a common goal: to help people invest and insure better so they can grow their wealth. We have seen in Singapore how a holistic approach to financial planning, supported by digital capabilities and personalised advice, can help customers make better financial decisions and progress towards their long-term goals.

By partnering with a like-minded bank like ttb, we can apply what we have learnt in Singapore to the Thai market, while drawing on ttb’s strong local knowledge and deep customer relationships. We are confident that bringing the best of both banks together will give customers greater choice and better support at every stage of their wealth journey.”

Reflecting on the future roadmap for the alliance and its alignment with broader market demand, Mr. Piti Tantakasem added:

“The ttb–DBS partnership will continue to evolve. We are already exploring the next phase of collaboration, including introducing carefully selected global investment products and solutions from DBS’ regional platform to ttb customers. This will broaden international investment opportunities and further strengthen customers’ portfolios.

Our partnership with DBS represents another significant milestone in ttb’s commitment to improving the financial well-being of Thais today and in the future through the development of a strong and comprehensive Wealth Ecosystem.

Our goal is not simply to expand investment choices, but to help customers build balanced portfolios that can grow sustainably over the long term through a holistic wealth management approach tailored to each individual’s needs. This is the direction ttb will continue to pursue as we help customers build, grow and preserve their wealth with confidence throughout every stage of life.”
