Digital Edge has announced that Bernice Gretchel P. Garcia-Rama will take over as the Chief Executive Officer of its Philippines division. The move signals the company’s intent to scale its operations in a market that is becoming a vital part of the digital infrastructure landscape in Southeast Asia. The appointment was made official on 6 April 2026 as the firm looks to increase its hyperscale capacity.
Ms Garcia-Rama brings roughly twenty years of professional experience to the position. Her background spans several key industries including energy, enterprise markets and critical infrastructure. Before joining Digital Edge, she held the role of Assistant Vice President and Head of Enterprise Commercial & Conglomerates at Meralco. During her time there, she managed high level relationships with utility companies, public sector bodies and global hyperscalers.
She is particularly well known in the industry for writing Meralco’s white paper regarding digital infrastructure and hyperscale readiness in the Philippines. This document has become a primary resource for policymakers and technology firms looking to understand the digital competitiveness of the country. Her expertise is expected to help the company navigate a market where demand for data services is growing while supply remains limited.
John Freeman, the Group CEO of Digital Edge, commented on the leadership change. He stated: “Bernice’s appointment comes at an important point in our growth as we scale the platform in markets where demand is accelerating and supply remains constrained. The Philippines is a high-growth, underpenetrated market with strong long-term fundamentals, and Bernice brings the experience and execution capability to position us for the next phase of expansion. We thank Vic for building a strong foundation for the business, and we are confident Bernice will continue to create long-term value for our customers, partners, and the broader ecosystem.”
Ms Garcia-Rama takes over the leadership from Vic Barrios. Mr Barrios is departing the Philippines business to return to the United States after serving as the head of the local operations for the past five years. The transition comes as Digital Edge focuses on disciplined expansion and strengthening its presence in high growth territories.
