Access Bank empowers women entrepreneurs with Womenpreneur Pitch-a-thon initiative

After completing the sixth Access Bank Womenpreneur Pitch-A-Thon, fifty female entrepreneurs were given financial support and business development help to expand their businesses.

The program, which aimed to empower women in business, offered a range of support to recipients, including grants, website construction, business protection insurance, and help with digital marketing.  Each of the three exceptional entrants received GH¢100,000 to help them grow their businesses.

Emmanuella Tordman Khadija of Dr. Do God Limited, Geneviva Baidoo of Vieva Bee Enterprise, and Khadija Osman of Osikalim Food Processing were the top honourees.  Wilhelmina Ametepeh was also awarded GH¢20,000, the Access Bank MD’s Special Prize for entrepreneurs with impairments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pearl Nkrumah, Executive Director of Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank Ghana, stated that the project began in Ghana more than ten years ago after being introduced at the Bank’s headquarters in Nigeria.  Since its founding, Access Bank Ghana has supported women-led enterprises by investing more than $1 million in cash prizes and other perks.

Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Group Head for Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana, highlighted the important role female entrepreneurs play in the nation’s economic growth and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting women-led businesses.

As a bank dedicated to supporting women in business, this Pitch-A-Thon provides an avenue for female entrepreneurs to present their ideas, gain essential business training, and receive funding. This initiative has been impactful in job creation and livelihood enhancement, and we remain committed to its expansion,” she said.
