Medical technology firm GE HealthCare has expanded its diagnostic imaging range by introducing Invenia ABUS Prime alongside a new web-based viewing tool named ABUS StreamVue.
The dual product launch aims to support supplemental breast cancer screening for women with dense breast tissue. Medical research across the US and Europe indicates that 40 per cent of women have dense breasts, placing them at a 4 to 6 times higher risk of developing breast cancer. Standard mammography can miss one-third of tumours in dense tissue, creating a need for additional diagnostic options.
The new Invenia ABUS Prime system utilises a cSound Imageformer with Verisound AI tools, including Scan Quality Assessment and Auto Nipple Detection to standardise image capture. It features a Fast Scan tool that speeds up scanning by up to 40 per cent, alongside a Reverse Curve transducer with adjustable compression settings. The system also includes QVCAD AI tools, which can reduce reading time by 33 per cent while maintaining up to 93 per cent sensitivity for detecting lesions.
Alongside the scanner, GE HealthCare unveiled ABUS StreamVue, a zero-footprint browser reading tool that recently received US FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Marking. Developed in collaboration with Candelis, Inc., the platform permits clinicians to review 3D ultrasound scans remotely across enterprise healthcare networks.
BeSound in Los Angeles has completed one of the initial US installations of Invenia ABUS Prime and plans to deploy a mobile unit to broaden local access.
