Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Global technology powerhouse Lenovo has named distinguished computer scientist Dr. Rabeah Alzaidy as the head of its Research and Development (R&D) operations in Saudi Arabia. The high-profile appointment underscores the company’s ongoing effort to expand its footprint in artificial intelligence, cultivate regional talent, and accelerate digital innovation within the Kingdom.
Dr. Alzaidy’s leadership marks a pivotal step in Lenovo’s long-term strategy to deepen its operational presence in Saudi Arabia. The tech giant continues to scale up its local footprint across regional headquarters, manufacturing operations, and innovation hubs, aligning its R&D roadmap directly with the strategic economic goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
Bringing over 15 years of deep tech expertise, Dr. Alzaidy holds an exemplary academic and professional record. She earned her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and completed postdoctoral fellowships at both Penn State and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Complementing her technical foundation with Executive Leadership training from UC Berkeley, her past experience encompasses higher education as an Assistant Professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), strategic consulting for Aramco, and advising on core AI frameworks for the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI) under SDAIA. Most recently, she held executive R&D and AI strategy roles across emerging domains at Lucid Motors and HUMAIN.
In her new role, Dr. Alzaidy will lead Lenovo’s R&D expansion across the Kingdom. Her primary focus will involve scaling local research infrastructure while establishing stronger collaborative links between domestic academic institutions, industry partners, and Lenovo’s international scientific networks – aiming to create Saudi-designed technologies for global deployment.
