A prominent British investment initiative has reached a significant milestone by distributing millions of pounds to female investors and female-led commercial enterprises.
The Invest in Women Taskforce announced that more than £115 million has now been allocated through its core funding mechanism. The collective funding pool relies on institutional finance partners who direct capital toward businesses that satisfy strict commercial return metrics and gender diversity standards. This latest funding milestone spans 22 completed transactions, with additional deals currently moving through the operational pipeline.
The initiative has gathered £635 million in total capital commitments since its introduction in 2024. This total is more than double the initial target of £250 million set by organisers at launch. Recent financial allocations include a multi-million-pound investment by BGF into the adventure travel enterprise Wild Frontiers. Additionally, the asset manager Bootstrap 4F has finalised capital commitments to Evertrue Capital I LP, Seedcamp VII LP and Seedcamp Nation II LP.
“When we launched the Invest in Women Taskforce, our ambition was not simply to raise awareness of the funding gap, but to change the system that created it. Surpassing £100 million in deployment shows that this is no longer a conversation about intent; it is proof that capital is actively reaching women investors and founders. The focus now is ensuring this momentum continues through deployment, accountability and long-term structural change, so that backing women entrepreneurs becomes a permanent feature of the investment landscape rather than an exception to it,” said Hannah Bernard CBE, Co-Chair of the Invest in Women Taskforce.
The distribution of funds follows a recent announcement from Bootstrap 4F, which oversees the Women Backing Women Fund of Funds. The group started moving capital after securing a landmark £130 million first close in March this year. By backing gender balanced and female-led management teams, the funding seeks to support high-growth commercial firms across the United Kingdom.
“For too long, the investment industry has overlooked one of the biggest commercial opportunities in the market. This has never been about favouring women; it is about ensuring the industry does not miss out on exceptional businesses and strong returns. The capital is now flowing, and the commercial case has never been clearer: back women or miss out on enormous return potential for investors and the UK economy as a whole,” said Debbie Wosskow CBE, Co-Chair of the Invest in Women Taskforce.
