Voces Vitales El Salvador has announced the appointment of Gabriela Quiros-Mathies as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. The transition took place during the organisation’s annual accountability meeting on 14 April 2026. The move signals a fresh chapter for the NGO as it launches its 2026–2027 action plan. This roadmap focuses on the economic development of professional women and entrepreneurs within micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Quiros-Mathies is a graduate of the Global Business Executive Leadership program and currently serves as Vice President at The Network Company. She takes over the volunteer role with a focus on financial well-being. Upon her appointment, she stated: “It is an honor to assume the chairmanship of the Board of Directors of Voces Vitales El Salvador. I am deeply grateful for the trust of the founding partners and the new Board of Directors, with whom I share the commitment to continue building a platform that promotes leadership, autonomy and opportunities for more women in our country.”
The organisation is a member of the Vital Voices Global Partnership and has reached 25,000 women since it began in 2012. The new two-year strategy aims to support an additional 800 to 1,000 women. This is particularly significant in El Salvador where 60% of working women are in the MSME sector. Regional data indicates that only 30% of women currently invest and fewer than 40% save for retirement. To tackle these gaps, the 2026 agenda includes training in artificial intelligence, budgeting and the creation of investment portfolios.
The organisation has built a network of partners including banks, insurance firms and multilateral groups to fund its mentorship programs. Reflecting on her vision for the role, Quiros-Mathies noted: “Transforming someone’s life is not reserved for a few. Every journey offers opportunities to create impact, sometimes through simpler actions than we imagine.” The upcoming year will also see the continuation of capacity building initiatives first highlighted during the 2025 Crece Mujer Congress. These efforts aim to provide practical tools for financial literacy and professional networking across the country.
