WSL Football has announced a major collaboration with Apple aimed at transforming the way the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) and Barclays Women’s Championship are played, coached, and experienced. The partnership supports WSL Football’s ambition to create the most competitive and entertaining women’s club competition in the world.
Through the partnership, clubs and officials across the leagues will gain access to a full suite of Apple products, marking a significant step towards improving performance standards and driving equality in resources across all teams. The initiative is expected to enhance decision-making, player development, and strategic planning, while providing more efficient tools for matchday operations.
As part of the deal, teams will be equipped with the latest MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and iPad Air, along with the new iPhone 17 Pro and AirPods Pro 3. Coaches and analysts will be able to use multiple iPads on the sidelines to review live footage, performance data, and tactical insights in real time. Analysts will edit and share key clips on MacBook Pro devices while staying connected to coaches during training and matches via AirPods Pro 3 and iPhone 17 Pro.
Matchday processes will also see a digital overhaul, with fourth officials using iPad Air for team sheet exchanges and match reporting, streamlining administrative tasks and improving accuracy.
“At its core, we see this as a collaboration grounded in a shared ambition to drive meaningful transformation, and Apple has a remarkable history of revolutionising industries through its products,” said Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chief Revenue Officer at WSL Football. “That spirit of innovation deeply resonates with our aspirations for women’s football, and Apple’s products will help provide a solution for disparity in club technology access and team performance analysis. By leveraging their world-class products, we’re empowering teams with tools that can transform on-pitch performance and create a more level playing field across the leagues.”
Apple has long been involved in transforming professional sports, with partnerships extending across Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, and the World Surf League. Its technology has played a key role in driving innovation and performance in these sports, and the same approach is now being applied to women’s football.
“We are thrilled to be working with WSL Football and to help every player, coach, analyst and official elevate their game with Apple,” said Scott Brodrick, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager at Apple. “Our aim is to enable innovation both on and off the pitch, and by placing our products into the hands of football’s most skilful athletes, we’re excited by what we can collectively achieve for women’s football.”
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in women’s sport, as the WSL looks to harness cutting-edge technology to raise standards, enhance competition, and continue growing the global profile of the women’s game.
