The support of Wema Bank’s CoopHub, a digital solution, has enhanced the productivity of small businesses in Lagos cooperative societies. The bank introduced the product at the event celebrating International Day of Cooperatives 2024 in Lagos. The International Day of Cooperatives is a worldwide event celebrated every year on the initial Saturday of July, to acknowledge the important contribution of cooperative organisations in advancing sustainable economic development and their involvement in creating a more sustainable tomorrow.

The 2024 International Day of Cooperatives, with the theme “Cooperatives: Building a Better Future For All”, was celebrated by the Lagos State Government in partnership with Wema Bank. It brought together important figures in the cooperative sector to address common challenges faced by cooperatives in Nigeria and promote a more sustainable future for everyone through the cooperative industry.

“Cooperative Societies represent a very significant platform for socio-economic development and for us at Wema Bank, we stand proudly as the cooperative-centric bank that is committed to providing the resources and tailored solutions that these cooperatives need to thrive and remain successful. CoopHub is the perfect embodiment of this commitment, and we are thrilled that more cooperatives are discovering this solution and coming on board to optimise their operations and maximise the opportunities provided for their growth.” says the Divisional head of Retail and SME, Wema Bank, Ayodele Olojede.
