Unilever Ventures to invest further in ESQA Indonesian cosmetic brand

Unilever Ventures has further invested in the Indonesian beauty brand in its Series B funding round with $4 million. The company had already invested in the brand in its Series A funding with $6 million.

The Indonesian beauty brand, ESQA, was founded by Cindy Angelina and Kezia Trihatmanto in 2016. They claim to be the first vegan beauty brand in the country. Cindy Angelina is the CEO of the company while  Kezia Trihatmanto is the Chief Product Officer. The pair moved to Indonesia after studying in Los Angeles for ten years.

ESQA’s products are available through the brand’s D2C website and in Sephora and Watsons stores in Indonesia. The brand has also expanded its reach to other parts of Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Singapore.

Venture capital firms Redrice Ventures and Joyance Partners have also invested in the beauty business, with Luna Daily having raised £4.7m in capital so far.
