The mentorship nonprofit Step Up has revealed the members of its national board of directors for 2026. This group of more than 25 leaders is tasked with guiding the organisation through its next strategic planning phase. The charity provides career exploration and confidence-building programmes for teen girls and young women.

Maria Salcedo, an operating partner at &vest, has been appointed as the new chair of the board. Salcedo is based in Chicago and has been involved with Step Up since 2017. She previously served on the Midwestern Region Chapter Board. Joining her in leadership is Monique Saunders Patrick, the chief finance and strategy officer at Community Catalyst, who will serve as board treasurer. Elizabeth Radichel and Maggie Stockdale will lead the governance and strategy committees.

“Step Up is grateful for the commitment, guidance and investment of our national board of directors,” Step Up CEO Delores Druilhet Morton said. “These leaders understand that mentorship is critical in this moment and they stand ready to provide the organization with the support we need to navigate the year ahead.”

The 2026 board includes several new faces from various sectors. Among the new additions are Jennifer Bombardier, Devon Crimin of Shiseido Americas and Vernon Francois. Other new members include Katie Frazier, Jennifer Kobus from REI, Breanne Metcalf of The Walt Disney Company, Dr. Jean Rhodes and Carissa Smith from FOX Corporation. These individuals join 19 returning members to oversee initiatives like the “flash mentoring” app. This platform allows young women to find short-term connections with mentors for specific advice.

The organisation offers these programmes for free to girls and those who identify with girlhood. It aims to build a multi-generational community that provides the resources needed for professional success. Step Up currently relies on approximately 1,500 members who contribute their time and expertise as mentors.

Many board members take an active role by mentoring participants directly. This helps the organisation secure resources at both local and national levels. Step Up remains focused on its mission despite current economic and social challenges. Those interested in board service are encouraged to contact the charity’s governance department for further details.
