Over 20,100 tonnes of fresh flowers were transported by Avianca Cargo (QT) as it wrapped up its Mother’s Day 2025 season, a 15% rise over the previous year.

The historic cargoes came from Ecuador and Colombia and ended up all throughout North America and Europe. For Valentine’s Day 2025, Avianca Cargo dispatched flowers at a record-breaking rate back in February.

In order to satisfy the increased seasonal demand, Avianca Cargo doubled its operational capacity, expanded vital infrastructure, and provided 24/7 flower service across key terminals without interfering with its wider business operations.

Comments from Avianca Cargo CEO, Miami-Dade Commissioner

“Mother’s Day is one of the most important seasons for the flower industry, and we are proud to once again fulfill our commitment. We celebrate a historic record that reaffirms our market position and leadership as the flower carrier of the season between Colombia and the United States,” said Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo.

“Thanks to all our key stakeholders and clients, we recognize each of these 20,100 tons as a shared achievement.”

Miami International Airport (MIA) has been key for Avianca Cargo’s Mother’s Day 2025 operations, serving as the primary gateway for flower imports into the US.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Raquel Regalado said, “Almost every flower that will be touched by a mother or grandmother in the United States came through Miami International Airport and through Avianca. And that’s why today we celebrate the partnership, the infrastructure, and focus on the different points throughout the supply chain.”

Miami International maintains an incredibly robust perishable cargo hub ready to serve American consumers on Valentine’s and Mother’s Day.
