Danish microalgae company ALGIECEL has appointed Mette Ingeman Pedersen as its new Chief Financial Officer. The formal appointment follows a period where Pedersen worked alongside the business as a strategic partner.
The transition to a formal executive team role comes as the firm shifts its operational focus from running pilot and demonstration trials toward manufacturing on an industrial scale. According to the company, the appointment is intended to strengthen its long-term financial strategy and fundraising capabilities as the business enters its next commercial expansion phase. Pedersen brings a background in scaling technology companies and managing strategic finance frameworks.
ALGIECEL operates in the bioactives market, utilising modular photobioreactors to grow sustainable ingredients. The company relies on closed production loops to cultivate algae, with the wider aim of reducing industry pressure on finite marine resources across Europe. The technology is designed to deliver high-value alternative ingredients at scale, assisting in the development of a more resilient regional supply chain.
Susanne Palsten Buchardt, CEO at ALGIECEL, said: “I have had the pleasure of working closely with Mette over the past months, and I am delighted that we can now officially announce her as ALGIECEL’s CFO. Her capabilities will help accelerate our journey towards industrial scale and expand the impact our technology can have on building a more sustainable ingredients industry.”
The new finance chief will lead the division immediately as corporate growth plans move forward.
