Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has appointed Anna Mascolo as President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe and Global Offshore.
Mascolo replaces Nils de Baar, who is retiring from operational duties after leading regional operations for over ten years. She officially started her role at Vestas today, while de Baar will leave the business at the end of September following a handover period.
Prior to joining Vestas, Mascolo served as Executive Vice President of Low Carbon Solutions at Shell. Her career spans more than 25 years in international energy leadership, including senior positions in research, trading, aviation, chemicals and low-carbon technologies. Her previous roles at Shell included President of Global Aviation and Vice Chair of the Raízen Board. She currently serves on the board of Rolls-Royce SMR.
Henrik Andersen, President and CEO of Vestas, says “I am delighted to welcome Anna to Vestas. Anna brings a unique combination of commercial acumen, international leadership experience, and deep expertise within the energy sector. As Europe continues to invest in secure, affordable and sustainable energy, Anna’s proven ability to deliver growth, lead large organisations, and build strong customer relationships will be invaluable for Vestas and our customers. At the same time, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Nils de Baar for his extraordinary contribution to Vestas. For more than a decade, Nils has been instrumental in shaping Vestas’ success in Europe. From leading the integration of two regions into one strong organisation to driving growth across our largest region and most recently taking on responsibility for Offshore globally, Nils has consistently shown strong leadership and a deep commitment to customers, people, and the energy transition. He leaves behind a stronger business and a lasting legacy at Vestas”.
In her position, Mascolo will manage sales, construction, service and development activities for onshore wind across Northern and Central Europe, alongside global offshore operations.
Nils de Baar, Outgoing President of Vestas Northern Central Europe and Global Offshore, says “It has been a privilege to lead Northern & Central Europe and work alongside great colleagues, customers, and partners. Together, we have built a strong business and contributed significantly to the deployment of renewable energy across the region. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and confident that the region is well-positioned for continued success. Anna is an outstanding leader with extensive experience across the energy value chain, and I am certain she will take the business to even greater heights.”
“Vestas is a global leader in renewable energy and has played a pivotal role in shaping the energy transition around the world. I am excited to join the company at such an important time for the industry. Northern & Central Europe is a region with tremendous opportunities as countries continue to pursue ambitious climate and energy goals. I look forward to joining my peers in Henrik’s team with the other Regional Presidents and working with Vestas’ talented team, our customers, and our partners to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy solutions and create long-term value for all stakeholders.” says Anna Mascolo, President of Vestas Northern Central Europe and Global Offshore.
