Tran Lan Phuong, the vice president of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU), met with Binu Jacob, the CEO of Nestle Vietnam, at the VWU headquarters to discuss the outcomes of their strategic collaboration during the 2020–2024 timeframe and the course of their activities for the 2025–2027 timeframe.

In December 2020, Nestle Vietnam and the VWU signed a partnership agreement to undertake the “Nestle Accompanies Women” program, which was founded on a shared commitment and objective to promote gender equality.  Through healthcare, nutrition, and safety initiatives for women and children; digital applications; assisting women in starting businesses and boosting their incomes; and enhancing their quality of life, the program seeks to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives, all of which contribute to helping women grow holistically during the digital transformation era.

More than 25,400 participants had received knowledge and skills from the program by the end of 2024, and over two million households had benefited from the information on nutrition, food safety, and cleanliness. This helped to establish and sustain thousands of sustainable livelihood models for women.

Phuong said, “The VWU highly appreciates Nestle Vietnam’s support and cooperation in the union’s movements through the “Nestle Accompanies Women” programme. The initiative provides female members with more knowledge and skills to access and apply digital technology, earn more income to improve the quality of family life, and enhance their power and courage. Going forward, the two sides will discuss integrating this cooperation programme into major government projects, such as the women’s startup drive, with a view to bringing practical effects to more members.”

Within the framework of the working session, Phuong, on behalf of the VWU, presented Jacob the VWU’s merit medal, “For the Development of Vietnamese Women,” for the company’s positive contribution to the goals of encouraging gender equality and empowering women as well as building Vietnamese women in the new era through the cooperation programme between the two sides.

“Nestle Vietnam appreciates the recognition of the VWU. We consider this an important motivation to continue effective cooperation activities between the two sides to support female members, especially women in rural areas. Thus, women can have the opportunity to develop themselves to affirm their position in the family as well as at the workplace, ready to adapt and grow with Vietnam in the new era,” Jacob said.

Since its founding in Vietnam in 1995, Nestle Vietnam has consistently maintained its dedication to working together to raise the standard of living for Vietnamese citizens. Nestle Vietnam has consistently worked to support the achievement of Vietnam’s inclusive and sustainable development goals, such as promoting gender equality and empowering women, through multi-stakeholder engagement to create shared value.

The corporation carries out this commitment through efforts to promote female farmers, programs to educate and develop female leaders, and most notably, the long-term strategic cooperation program “Nestle  Accompanies Women” in partnership with the VWU.

Nestle Vietnam was delighted to earn the VWU’s Certificate of Merit for its exceptional accomplishments in the campaign “the entire country joins hands to build new rural areas,” which focusses on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The business received commemorative medals for its contributions to “For the Development of Vietnamese Women” and for its cooperation and support of the VWU in avoiding and combating the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as for overcoming the effects of floods and natural catastrophes.
