Indian Food delivery giant Swiggy has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative titled “She The Change- From Vision to Venture” to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contribution of women entrepreneurs in the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry. The initiative, inaugurated by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, marks a significant milestone in Swiggy’s journey of empowering women entrepreneurs across the country.

With nearly a decade of experience collaborating with women entrepreneurs, Swiggy’s latest initiative aims to shine a spotlight on both emerging talents and established figures in the F&B sector. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commended the initiative, acknowledging the vibrant landscape of women-led enterprises and the pivotal role played by programs like “She the Change” in fostering entrepreneurship nationwide.

During the event, the Finance Minister personally honored women entrepreneurs from various corners of the country, emphasizing the increasing presence of women in business ventures of all scales. She lauded Swiggy for its efforts in providing encouragement and support to aspiring women entrepreneurs, thereby inspiring others to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

“Today, I can see there is great vibrancy in women-led enterprises, where women are coming forth and taking up business challenges whether small, medium or big, you find women everywhere, and programmes such as Swiggy’s “She the Change” are giving them the encouragement and a little push, and for other women to know this is possible. Swiggy deserves a special mention for encouraging women’s entrepreneurship nationwide,” said Nirmala Sitharaman

Swiggy revealed that it currently hosts over 50,000 women-run restaurants on its platform, contributing significantly to job creation in the F&B sector. According to Swiggy’s estimates, these women entrepreneurs have generated approximately three hundred thousand jobs, with each restaurant providing employment to an average of six individuals.

Sriharsha Majety, Group CEO of Swiggy, described “She The Change’ transcends being just an initiative; it stands as a platform, dedicated to honouring and amplifying the remarkable stories of women entrepreneurs and leaders in the F&B industry. They have not only set new benchmarks for success but also played a pivotal role in shaping India’s economic narrative,”

Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, echoed his sentiments, “In the decade since Swiggy’s inception, we’ve had the honour to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs in the F&B space and witness their remarkable journeys first-hand. It’s inspiring to see the steady growth in both the number and scale of women-led businesses on Swiggy each year.”
