India and Australia are strengthening their bond with improved education and economic collaboration

India and Australia are significantly enhancing their partnership, focusing on education and economic development. Lisa Singh, CEO of the Australia India Institute, commended the deepening connection between the two countries, highlighting the contributions of the Indian diaspora and government initiatives in nurturing this alliance.

CEO of the Australia India Institute, Lisa Singh, said, “We are certainly a lot closer as partners today than we were ten or twenty years ago.”

Singh highlighted the significance of people-to-people connections, noting especially the expanding Indian community in Australia, which has now reached a population of one million.”The glue between Australia and India is really its people… and those that want to engage in business with India to understand its economic rise.”

During her visit to India, Victoria’s Premier Jacinta Allan highlighted the “incredibly strong” nature of the India-Australia relationship. She emphasized that Victoria is home to the largest population of Indian-born Australian residents and international students, underscoring the significant role that education plays in strengthening the bilateral ties.

“Education is an incredibly important part of our community and economy,” she said, stressing on the importance of collaboration between India and Victorian educational institutions.

Allan also highlighted on economic priorities, mainly in renewable energy, transport infrastructure, and housing. She said, “We have a lot in common in terms of values but also our priority growth areas in terms of renewable energy and building better transport connections.”

During her visit to India, Allan also concentrated on connecting with women leaders to explore methods for expanding opportunities for women in both nations. Allan highlighted that enhancing educational and economic opportunities for women would be advantageous for both countries. She said, “We all want the best for our kids, strong communities, and great education outcomes.”

Both Singh and Allan concur that the strengthening relationship between India and Australia is founded on common values and the mutual advantages of greater cooperation in education, business, and renewable energy.
