ICC Chair Maria Fernanda Garza Visits Ghana

International Chamber of Commerce elected Maria Fernanda Garza from Mexico as the ICC Chair in 2022, making her the first woman to hold this position

ICC Chair Maria Fernanda Garza is set to commence her visit to Ghana from March 1st to March 5th. Maria Fernanda Garza, the first woman elected as ICC Chair in 2022, succeeds Ajay Banga, who assumed the presidency of the World Bank.

Hailing from Mexico, Garza is recognized for her leadership in business ethics, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and her roles on various business organization boards. She previously served as Vice President of the Employers Association during the 98th Session of the International Labour Organization and contributed to advisory groups such as the B20, WIPO Advisory Board, and the United Nations Internet Governance Forum.

As CEO of Orestia, a Mexican manufacturing company specializing in home improvement and water solutions, Garza oversees operations exporting to the USMCA region, Latin America, and Asia.

During her Ghana visit, Garza will meet government officials and business leaders. She will also inaugurate the 2nd ICC Africa Sustainable Supply Chain Summit and present the 2023 edition of the ICC Rules on Combating Corruption.

Emmanuel Doni-Kwame, ICC Ghana Secretary General,  said: “We look forward to working with her in building the capacity of International Chamber of Commerce in Ghana.
