IDA Sports, a sports footwear and apparel company specialising in products designed for female athletes, has raised US$3 million in a funding round led by sports performance investment and consulting firm CoverFour.

Founded in 2018 by Laura Youngson and Ben Sandhu, the company develops footwear designed around the needs of female players. Its range includes boots for football, lacrosse, flag football and rugby.

The company has since expanded into apparel and accessories, including training socks. The latest investment will support the development of additional product categories and help the business reach more teams and clubs through direct sales to sporting organisations.

CoverFour will also contribute its expertise in sports product development to support the expansion and refinement of IDA Sports’ products for female athletes.

Rachel LaSala, chief operating officer of IDA Sports, said the funding would allow the company to broaden its product range and strengthen its direct relationships with sporting organisations. She added that the business would continue to focus on products developed and tested for women and girls.

IDA Sports was established to address the limitations of sports equipment traditionally designed around male athletes. Its footwear range has been developed specifically for female players, with the company working to address issues related to fit and comfort.

The latest funding comes amid continued investment in products and services designed specifically for women in sport. For IDA Sports, the capital is intended to support its move beyond specialist footwear into a broader range of equipment and apparel for female athletes.
