New brand chief for Mahindra Group as Purnima Lamba takes senior role

Bringing around 25 years of global experience from Unilever, Lamba will oversee corporate communications and brand strategy across all business verticals.

Indian multinational Mahindra Group has announced the appointment of Purnima Lamba as its new Chief Brand Officer. The high-profile hiring is intended to support the firm’s focus on creating a future-ready, purpose-driven corporate brand. She will officially assume her duties in this senior executive position on 1 September 2026.

Operating out of Mumbai, Lamba will be tasked with shaping and stewarding the overarching communications and brand strategy for the entire conglomerate. Her responsibilities include generating a unified brand narrative that reflects the values and commercial goals of the group. She will also manage brand consistency across the various business sectors of the corporation, ensuring that initiatives increase public awareness across both digital and conventional media channels.

Lamba transitions to the group following a distinguished international career lasting around 25 years at Unilever. During her time with the consumer goods giant, she occupied several top leadership positions across India, the UK and the Netherlands. Her professional background includes significant experience in launching tech-enabled beauty experiences and building modern digital media models to expand market reach.

The incoming executive holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her professional history ranges from early entrepreneurial projects to directing major global beauty brands. Her experience across different markets is expected to help unify the message of the diverse conglomerate.
