The Nigerian Indigenous Women in Mining and Natural Resources Organisation (NIWIMNRO) has signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Africans for Africa (AFA). The bilateral agreement establishes a strategic partnership aimed at implementing inclusive extraction methods and driving sustainable community development across the country.

According to official project briefs, the joint initiative intends to ensure that future mining investments across the territory remain socially responsible and gender-responsive. The programmatic framework prioritises distributing meaningful, long-term economic advantages to host communities affected by extractive industries.

Under the terms of the newly ratified covenant, NIWIMNRO will take on the role of primary strategic adviser to AFA regarding local community development and social impact metrics. This specific positioning will allow the advocacy body to advance the commercial interests of women working within small-scale and artisanal excavation sectors. The group will also oversee general sustainable development operations within regional mining camps.

The commercial collaboration will also supervise the installation of specialised mineral aggregation hubs across the country. These regional centres will manage the collection, quality grading and full integration of critical raw commodities into international supply chains backed by AFA. The operational rollout targets materials such as lithium, gold and tin.

Project leaders expect the aggregation network to generate better market access, technical training and overall economic participation for regional workforces. The alliance represents a structural shift toward educating, empowering and providing stable commercial avenues for female artisanal workers while creating a more balanced corporate mining landscape.
