ICC Bangladesh has held a full-day workshop in Chattogram aimed at strengthening the capabilities of MSMEs and women entrepreneurs involved in international trade. The training, titled ‘Capacity Building of MSMEs and Women Entrepreneurs for Using ICC Rules in International Trade,’ took place on Saturday at a city hotel, according to a press release.
The session was developed for small businesses and women-led enterprises working in global markets, particularly those exporting non-traditional products. Organisers said the programme was intended to give participants a clearer understanding of ICC Rules used in cross-border trade and to help them navigate the increasingly complex world of trade finance.
Throughout the day, attendees were introduced to key ICC frameworks that guide export–import operations, including UCP 600, Incoterms 2020 and ISBP. The workshop also highlighted the importance of applying these rules correctly to reduce the risk associated with Letters of Credit (L/Cs) and to support better decision-making.
The event forms part of ICC Headquarters’ wider capacity-building initiative aimed at improving access to trade knowledge for SMEs and women entrepreneurs worldwide. As part of this programme, ICC Bangladesh has organised four workshops since 2024, reaching a total of 300 participants from small businesses and women-led enterprises.
ICC Bangladesh Secretary General Ataur Rahman formally opened the workshop, while A T M Nesarul Hoque, Executive Vice President of Mutual Trust Bank, led the training sessions.
A total of 95 participants attended, including bankers, women entrepreneurs and representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises.
Saturday’s workshop marks another step in ICC Bangladesh’s continued effort to expand trade literacy and support emerging exporters across the country.
