Sharon Truman, a Welsh tech entrepreneur, has developed and launched the Unify Giving app with her business partner, Matt. The app is a tech innovation which can transform charitable giving in Newport, South Wales, UK.

“We’ve developed something truly revolutionary. The app creates a direct connection between donors and those in desperate need,” said Ms Truman, who is based in Pontypool, Newport.

The Unify Giving app connects donors directly with those in need, and seeks to provide assistance to women facing homelessness, domestic violence, and trafficking.

Ms Truman emphasised her concern on homelessness and said, “Many of us are just one paycheque away from homelessness. These women aren’t statistics—they’re our neighbours who need our community’s support during their darkest moments.”

The app allows donors to select specific recipients, and any contribution made through the app goes to those individuals in its entirety. The donations can then be redeemed for essential goods and services.

The Unify Giving team has urged Newport residents to download the app and make donations for the cause. Local businesses have also been asked to become “Proud Community Champions” by participating in the redemption network.

“Together, we can create a safety net that catches people before they fall through the cracks,” Ms Truman added.
