United Airlines Holdings, Inc. (UAL) announced today the appointment of Rosalind Brewer to its Board of Directors. Brewer, a distinguished leader with a wealth of CEO experience, has been consistently acknowledged by Fortune and Forbes as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Business.”

United CEO Scott Kirby said “Roz’s strategic acumen and visionary leadership make her the right addition to our already strong Board of Directors as we plan for the long-term success of United Airlines. Brewer’s most recent role as President and CEO of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc., showcased her adept navigation of the healthcare landscape during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she drove strategic initiatives focused on innovation and enhanced customer engagement. Previously, as Chief Operating Officer of Starbucks Corporation, she was instrumental in elevating operational standards and customer satisfaction. Brewer also served as President and CEO of Sam’s Club, a division of Walmart Inc.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Spelman College, Brewer’s commitment to education is evident through her ongoing support for her alma mater. She remains deeply engaged in philanthropic efforts, particularly those promoting education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, underscoring her dedication to nurturing future leaders.
