VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has launched its latest model, the VF 3 mini SUV, aiming to make electric cars more accessible with a starting price of just 322 million dong (£10,000). The company plans to deliver at least 20,000 units within the year.

The VF 3, a compact SUV measuring 3.2 meters in length and under 1.7 meters in width, offers a range of 215 kilometers on a single charge. The vehicle’s compact size makes it particularly suited for younger drivers navigating the narrow roads and alleys common in urban areas like Hanoi.

When VinFast opened reservations for the VF 3 in May, the response was overwhelming, with nearly 28,000 orders placed within just 66 hours.

According to VinFast, the VF 3 is becoming a popular choice for families who already own a larger vehicle and are looking for a second car. Initially available in Vietnam, the company plans to expand sales to the Philippines and other markets in the future.

VinFast, a subsidiary of the Vingroup conglomerate, has ambitious goals for its EV sales, targeting 80,000 units for 2024. This target, while already impressive, was initially set at 100,000 units but was later revised.

The VF 3 represents VinFast’s commitment to expanding the EV market with affordable options, aiming to cater to the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles in densely populated urban areas.
