Union Coop has reported significant progress in its Emiratisation and women empowerment initiatives, with Emirati employees now accounting for 38% of its workforce and women making up 25% of staff. The milestone highlights the retailer’s commitment to the UAE’s vision of building national talent and increasing women’s participation in leadership and decision-making roles.

Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, said these achievements stem from “strategic policies focused on investing in Emirati human capital and building a qualified national workforce capable of contributing to the country’s sustainable economic development.”

Al Hashemi added that Union Coop takes pride in being a pioneering national entity in supporting Emiratisation and women empowerment. He explained that the cooperative intends to further raise Emiratisation rates in the coming period, in line with national objectives. “We firmly believe in the potential of Emirati women and their vital role in advancing institutional performance and achieving our future vision,” he said.

The CEO highlighted that Union Coop provides a flexible and supportive work environment that allows women to grow professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Continuous training and development programmes aim to attract talented Emirati youth and ensure sustainable national performance across all departments.

Al Hashemi noted that these efforts align with the UAE’s future vision, which seeks to empower citizens in the labour market and strengthen women’s leadership and decision-making presence. Union Coop reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Emiratisation and women empowerment through new initiatives designed to increase national participation across genders and enhance the influence of Emirati women in key positions.

By embedding these initiatives into its corporate strategy, Union Coop aims to deliver tangible results that reflect the directives of the UAE leadership and contribute to the nation’s comprehensive development journey. The cooperative continues to emphasise talent development and gender equality as central to its long-term growth and sustainability goals.
