Tanmiah Food Company has moved to accelerate its sustainability agenda after signing three new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at cutting emissions and improving energy performance across its operations. The agreements were finalised with Schneider Electric, Strataphy, and Kayes Arabia during the First Annual Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance (SAFTA) Forum in Riyadh.
The event, held at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) headquarters and hosted under the patronage of Vice Minister His Excellency Mansour Almushaiti, brought together key figures from across the Kingdom’s agriculture and food technology sectors. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Malik, Deputy Minister for Research & Innovation, who delivered remarks to delegates.
During the forum, Tanmiah’s Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Abbas Khan, showcased a series of technology-driven initiatives underway at the company. His presentation highlighted the use of IoT and AI across logistics and farm operations, as well as completed trials involving locally grown alternative feed ingredients intended to reduce reliance on imported materials.
The three new partnerships align with Tanmiah’s long-term plans to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability framework and its broader climate objectives. Under the MoU with Schneider Electric, the company will conduct a full carbon inventory and establish measurable emissions reduction targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), incorporating guidance on Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG). The work will also extend into supply chain engagement, with plans to guide key suppliers through training and implementation programmes linked to decarbonisation.
A separate collaboration with Strataphy, a Saudi start-up, will result in the installation of geothermal cooling units at Tanmiah’s Shaqrah Facility. This development will create the region’s first geothermal-cooled poultry site. Operated using Strataphy’s Cooling as a Service (CaaS) model, the system is designed to offer a low-carbon, scalable approach to supporting poultry production in high-temperature climates.
The third MoU, with Kayes Arabia, aims to replace diesel-powered systems at Tanmiah’s farms and processing plants with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) alternatives. The project is expected to cut emissions, streamline energy use, and reduce fuel-related operating costs.
Commenting on the agreements, Zulfiqar Hamadani, CEO of Tanmiah Food Company, said: “This represents a defining moment in Tanmiah’s sustainability journey. We are uniting technology, innovation, and strategic collaboration to turn climate ambitions into real and measurable outcomes and bottom-line impact, supporting Vision 2030 and contributing to a cleaner, more efficient food production ecosystem.”
Taken together, the initiatives mark a strategic push by Tanmiah to expand sustainable food production in the Kingdom and reinforce its role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s environmental transition.
