The SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub web page has officially gone live as part of the UK government-funded SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, aiming to help women-led businesses in Sri Lanka expand into global markets.

Accessible via www.srilankabusiness.com/exporters/shetrades/, the website invites all registered women-led businesses in the country to sign up. The aim is to help them connect with export opportunities, raise their visibility, and receive tailored business support.

The platform is a collaboration between the International Trade Centre’s (ITC) SheTrades initiative and Sri Lanka’s Export Development Board (EDB). It offers tools and resources designed to empower female entrepreneurs and boost their presence in international trade.

“It was a pleasure to celebrate the launch of the SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub webpage, an excellent resource which forms part of the wider ecosystem of support available to women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka,” said the UK’s Trade Envoy to Sri Lanka, Lord Hannett of Everton, during the launch event. He added, “The UK government is committed to supporting women and gender equality through our work and I look forward to seeing how this resource will facilitate greater access for Sri Lankan women-led business to international markets.”

The SheTrades initiative is aiming to link 3 million women globally to international markets, offering training, mentorship, policy advocacy, and B2B engagement.

“Empowering women entrepreneurs is essential to building a more inclusive and resilient economy. The launch of the SheTrades web page reflects our dedication to breaking down barriers and enabling more women to participate in and benefit from international trade,” said EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe.

The SheTrades Sri Lanka Hub joins a global network of 21 hubs, acting as a national platform for women in business to access markets, strengthen competitiveness, and connect with international buyers and partners.
