Opmed.ai, an Israeli startup specializing in healthcare optimization through AI technology, announced today the successful completion of a $15 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by prominent venture capital firms NFX, Grove Ventures, Secret Chord Ventures, along with Impact investor Sir Ronald Cohen, and Unbox Ventures.

Founded by Dr. Mor Brokman Meltzer, Avi Paz, and Prof. Baruch Barzel, Opmed.ai focuses on revolutionizing healthcare operations, particularly in Operating Rooms (ORs), by leveraging advanced AI algorithms. Their optimization engine, capable of processing billions of permutations within seconds, generates alternative schedules tailored to enhance resource allocation in healthcare settings.

The potential impact of Opmed.ai’s technology is significant, with each unused minute in ORs estimated to cost between $50 to $150, and empty ORs incurring costs of up to $1,000 per hour. By automating and optimizing scheduling processes, Opmed.ai aims to drive efficiency and cost savings for hospitals and healthcare centers.

With a workforce of approximately 30 employees, split between Israel and the United States, Opmed.ai has already gained traction among leading healthcare institutions in both countries. Collaborations with renowned health systems such as Mayo Clinic underscore the platform’s credibility and effectiveness.

The implementation of Opmed.ai’s platform is streamlined, typically taking only two to four weeks. Once deployed, the system analyzes various factors including staff availability, equipment usage, and procedural preferences to generate optimized scheduling plans. This not only enhances OR utilization but also enables hospitals to realize substantial cost savings and revenue growth.

Dr. Mor Brokman Meltzer, Co-Founder and CEO of Opmed.ai, expressed enthusiasm about the funding round, stating, “This round marks a significant milestone in that it provides us with the ability to rapidly scale an innovative technology, which has demonstrated success since 2021 and meet the demand that we’re already seeing from hospitals across the U.S.

Our mission is to support hospitals grappling with staff shortages and other critical issues by providing them a less labor-intensive, more effective way to perform at their best, and that’s exactly what this round will enable us to accomplish.” she added.

“Opmed.ai is a perfect representation of the next generation of great AI platforms. They solve a complex issue with a highly specialized vertical solution that has no alternative that comes close,” said Renana Ashkenazi, General Partner of Grove Ventures. “Opmed.ai’s team is applying their deep knowledge and expertise in health tech to solve critical inefficiencies and serious staffing shortages,” said Gigi Levy-Weiss, a founding partner at NFX.
