Meta has announced that Dina Powell McCormick is joining the company as President and Vice Chairman, as the technology group continues to expand its leadership team during a period of significant global investment and growth.

Powell McCormick has previously served as a member of Meta’s Board of Directors, where the company said she was closely involved as it accelerated its work in frontier artificial intelligence and personal superintelligence. Her move into an executive role comes as Meta scales up projects that are growing in size, cost and operational complexity.

The company is currently building what it describes as a large physical and financial foundation to support the next decade of computing. This includes major investments in data centres, energy systems and global connectivity, operating at a scale Meta says is unprecedented for the business.

“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,” said Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

In her new position, Powell McCormick will join Meta’s management team and help guide the company’s overall strategy and execution. She will work alongside compute and infrastructure teams to oversee multi-billion-dollar investments and ensure they align with Meta’s long-term objectives. The company said she will also focus on building new strategic capital partnerships and identifying new ways to expand Meta’s long-term investment capacity, while supporting positive economic outcomes in the communities where it operates globally.

Powell McCormick brings more than 25 years of experience across global finance, national security and economic development. She spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, where she was a partner in senior leadership roles, including serving on the firm’s Management Committee and leading its Global Sovereign Investment Banking business.

During her time at Goldman Sachs, she led several high-profile economic development initiatives, including 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, and One Million Black Women. Meta noted that these programmes have contributed to long-term economic growth and opportunity in markets around the world.

Her career also includes senior roles in public service, having served two US presidents. Powell McCormick was Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald J. Trump and previously served as a Senior White House Advisor and Assistant Secretary of State for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice under President George W. Bush. Most recently, she held the role of Vice Chair, President, and Head of Global Client Services at BDT & MSD Partners.

Meta said the appointment reflects its focus on strengthening leadership as it advances large-scale infrastructure and technology investments worldwide.
