Lloyds Bank has announced the appointment of Linda Weston as the new head of commercial cards, marking the creation of a pivotal role within the bank.

Scheduled to commence in June, Weston will be situated in London and will report directly to Chris Loring, the managing director of lending and working capital. This newly established position is a part of the bank’s broader strategy to bolster its existing working capital team by introducing dedicated teams for invoice financing and cards, aimed at better supporting its business clientele.

According to Lloyds Bank, this strategic move aims to deepen client relationships while simultaneously propelling its cards business forward, including the development of innovative new products and propositions.

With over 25 years of extensive experience in the cards and payments industry, Weston joins Lloyds Bank from Barclaycard Payments, where she presently holds the position of managing director and head of commercial cards. Prior to her role at Barclaycard, Weston spent close to eight years in various senior capacities related to payments at Barclaycard itself. Before that, she spent 6.5 years at JP Morgan leading product management and over eight years at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group overseeing commercial card operations.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Weston remarked, “Lloyds Bank is investing significantly in new client propositions and services such as enabling startup businesses to apply for cards online in minutes. I’m thrilled to be leading the newly created commercial cards product team, helping the UK’s businesses to be more efficient and manage their working capital and payments needs.”
