U.S. Bancorp, the parent company of U.S. Bank, has announced the appointment of Gunjan Kedia as its new president, marking a significant step forward in its leadership structure. Reporting directly to Andy Cecere, who retains the titles of chairman and CEO, Kedia will assume a pivotal role overseeing the company’s three core business lines, with a keen focus on driving growth and ensuring comprehensive client experiences throughout its extensive network.

With nearly three decades of experience in financial services, Kedia brings a wealth of expertise to her new position. Having held leadership roles at prestigious firms such as PwC and McKinsey, and serving in global executive positions at BNY Mellon and State Street Financial, she has amassed a distinguished track record in the industry. Kedia’s tenure at U.S. Bank, which began in 2016, has been characterized by her steadfast commitment to fostering growth, enhancing client relationships, and championing diversity initiatives, all while contributing significantly to the organization’s strategic priorities.

Commenting on Kedia’s appointment, Andy Cecere praised her exceptional leadership qualities and deep understanding of the company’s operations. “During her more than seven years with U.S. Bank, Gunjan has shown herself to be a visionary leader who understands our business and is driven to help us perform at our best. She has been honored six times as an American Banker Most Powerful Women in Finance and has twice been named to the Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in the U.S. Finance list. Her academic credentials are equally impressive, holding a master’s degree in business administration with distinction from Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned both the alumni achievement award in 2018 and the professional excellence award in 2022. Additionally, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering, also with distinction, from the esteemed Delhi School of Engineering. Currently, Kedia serves on the board of directors for PBS, Junior Achievement USA, and Carnegie Mellon Business School.
