In partnership with Sky Broadband, the Guild is happy to announce the launch of ‘The Lobby’, a comprehensive series of gaming events and activities dedicated to the female gaming community. The Lobby will provide a range of entry points for gamers of all skill levels, from novices to future professionals.
The first ‘Lobby Live’ event at the Sky Guild Gaming Centre in Shoreditch, London, will kick off The Lobby, an extension of Guild and Sky Broadband’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible gaming spaces for women, on Thursday, 3 April.
Powered by Sky Broadband, the goal of The Lobby is to become the preferred location for female gamers. With a focus on the Sky Guild Gaming Centre, The Lobby will feature venue takeovers, grassroots contests, informal gatherings, and esports competitions with titles like Fortnite, FC 25, Sim Racing, and more.
“The Lobby is more than just a series of events – it’s a space built with and for the women in gaming community,” said Merika Vine, Head of Partnerships at Guild. “Together with Sky Broadband, we want women to have the visibility, support, and opportunities they deserve within gaming & esports.”
The Lobby aims to include women in all aspects of the gaming environment and was developed based on community feedback.
League: Qualified players will compete for a £50,000 prize pool across a range of game titles under the direction of four team captains from the gaming community: Cadaea, Ebonix, Harrie Silver, and Sunpi.
Lobby Live: Sky Guild Gaming Center’s in-person gaming events and experiences that foster community
Game Days: Fostering emerging talent and gamers through informal, open-access gaming events with top-notch equipment and trained coaches
Studio: Providing a space for broadcasters and mid-core players to consistently create content and hone their craft
The Lobby expands upon Guild and Sky Broadband’s two-year successful collaboration. First, bringing attention to the difficulties women have in esport and gaming through the acclaimed campaign ‘No Room for Abuse’. Next came the establishment of the ‘Path to Pro’ program, which led to Ruby and Anna, current roster players, joining Guild.
Through two competitions devoted to promoting women in esport, the ‘Women’s Esports Finals’ last year gave three more female professionals—Grete Lajal, Clara Bucciachio, and Mariam “FUTHeda” Musa—a means to join the organisation.
