
Kairungi Salma Otika is set to be officially instated as the Uganda Country Director of Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW Africa), with the ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 24th May 2025.
The event is expected to bring together distinguished guests from across Uganda and the wider Commonwealth, including business leaders, entrepreneurs, Rotarians, and social changemakers. Attendees will gather to celebrate a woman who has made her mark across business, sport, and community development, earning recognition both nationally and internationally.
Salma Otika is known for her dedication to philanthropy, business, and sport. Her appointment to this high-profile position is another milestone in her career. Speaking about the opportunity, she said, “I am humbled and extremely excited to announce that I recently accepted the role of Director of Commonwealth Business Women Africa- Uganda Chapter. It is my greatest pleasure to step into this position and continue to use the influence it grants me to further advocate for women and pave the way for other amazing women after me. It’s always a pleasure to be in position to create impact. Together we rise.”
Her professional journey covers a range of sectors. She owns a company focused on organising sports events and supplying sports gear and clothing, helping athletes and supporting the growth of sports in the country. She is also a well-known Sports Events Coordinator and Match General Coordinator with FUFA, and currently serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Uganda Volleyball Federation. In this role, she works to ensure more opportunities for women in sport and promotes talent development in schools and communities.
Salma also has a presence in the hospitality sector, managing a chain of fully furnished rental properties across Uganda. Beyond business, she takes part in several community initiatives. She is Vice Chairperson of the Visionary Amigos Investment Club, a member of the Hands That Give Foundation, and an active Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Kyadondo.
As she steps into her new role with CBW Africa, Salma is expected to lead with a focus on mentorship, collaborative efforts, and encouraging women to succeed in various spheres. The upcoming installation ceremony will mark the beginning of a new chapter for both Salma and the organisation, as they aim to bring lasting change for women across Uganda and the region.
The celebration promises to be a highlight of the year, shining a spotlight on leadership, ambition, and unity among women changemakers.
