Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Communications, HE Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, has paid tribute to the achievements of Bahraini women working across the transport and communications sector, marking Bahraini Women’s Day with recognition of their expanding contribution to national development.
In remarks issued on 1 December 2025, the Minister highlighted that the progress made by women in the sector reflects the broader vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the direction of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that sustained national support has enabled women to advance into roles that are essential to Bahrain’s long-term economic ambitions.
The Minister also commended the Supreme Council for Women, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for spearheading policies and institutional frameworks that have widened women’s participation in the workforce. He said these efforts have helped strengthen the visibility and influence of Bahraini women at the local, regional and international levels.
According to the Minister, women working within the Ministry of Transportation and Communications have shown outstanding capability across both technical and administrative fields. He pointed to their growing role in improving service delivery, modernising infrastructure and supporting the implementation of national strategies linked to Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
HE Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed reiterated the ministry’s commitment to expanding opportunities for female employees, stating that women remain central partners in shaping the future of Bahrain’s transport and communications systems. He added that continued investment in women’s skills and career development is vital to achieving a sector that is both competitive and responsive to national priorities.
With the transport and communications sector undergoing rapid digital and structural transformation, the Minister emphasised that the contributions of Bahraini women have been critical to maintaining progress. He noted that their engagement across specialised areas that are planning, logistics, aviation, maritime operations and digital communications, demonstrates the depth of talent emerging within the national workforce.
As Bahrain continues to implement projects aligned with Economic Vision 2030, the ministry expects the role of women to expand further. The Minister underlined that supporting an inclusive environment will remain a strategic priority, ensuring that women are equipped to take part in the development of innovative transport solutions and systems that will support the country’s future growth.
