Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), the sister company of the Houston Texans, has announced its acquisition of the League One Volleyball (LOVB) Houston team, further cementing its investment in the city’s expanding sports culture and commitment to women’s and youth athletics.
The acquisition is being spearheaded by Texans Chair and CEO Cal McNair alongside Hannah McNair, Vice President of the Houston Texans Foundation. Founded in 2020, LOVB is the largest youth volleyball community in the United States and is preparing to enter its second professional season in January 2026. The league currently features teams in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City, with Los Angeles joining in 2027.
“We are always looking at creative ways to establish a better ecosystem around the Texans and LOVB is another example of that,” said Cal McNair. “This continues to grow our fanbase, makes sports more accessible and is an investment in the Houston community. It aligns with everything we are doing to provide a world-class experience for our fans and champion a competitive advantage for female athletes.”
Hannah McNair added, “The more we learned about LOVB throughout this process, the more it felt like a natural fit for us to invest and be a part of what they’re building. It has always been a priority for us to elevate sports opportunities in Houston, especially for women and youth, and this falls right in line with that initiative.”
LOVB operates with a “community-up” model that connects youth, collegiate, and professional players within one network. In Houston, this includes the nationally ranked Houston Skyline junior club, which boasts more than 1,300 athletes. The integrated approach is designed to increase participation and provide a clear pathway from grassroots to elite levels of play.
“Cal and Hannah McNair deeply care about the Houston community, and their passion for growing Houston sports makes them an ideal partner,” said Rosie Spaulding, President for LOVB Pro. “Their proven track record of championing athletes from youth to pro and building community impact is exactly what will power this next stage of LOVB Houston’s success.”
LOVB Houston’s 2026 season begins on January 8, 2026, at the Berry Center, with ten home matches split between the Berry Center and the Fort Bend County Epicenter. The team’s roster includes two-time Olympic Medalist Jordan Thompson, two-time Olympic Medalist Micha Hancock, and NCAA Champion Jess Mruzik. Tickets are now available via www.lovbhtx.com.
The ownership model at LOVB links team and league equity to drive long-term growth. With over 46 million volleyball fans in the United States, LOVB continues to expand its reach, shaping the future of professional volleyball with LSSE now playing a central role in that vision.
