Melinda French Gates gets down from her Co-chair position at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, 3 years after her divorce from Bill Gates. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Melinda and Bill Gates and is now the world’s largest philanthropic organization.

“This is not a decision I came to lightly,” French Gates posted on the X platform on Monday. “I am immensely proud of the foundation that Bill and I built together and of the extraordinary work it is doing to address inequities around the world.”

“The time is right for me to move forward into the next chapter of my philanthropy,” commented Melinda Gates. She has already been organizing some of her philanthropic activities through her own organization, Pivotal Ventures, which is not a non-profit organization.

Melinda Gates praised the foundation’s CEO, Mark Suzman, and other board members. They were significantly expanded after the Bill Gates and Melinda divorce.

Bill Gates thanked Melinda for her many philanthropic activities through the foundation and said, “I am sorry to see her leave, but I am sure she will have a huge impact in her future philanthropic work.”
