The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo board of directors has selected Ericia Moore to serve as its incoming President and Chief Executive Officer.

The formal appointment follows a comprehensive six-month executive recruitment process managed alongside corporate guidance from Y-USA. When Moore officially assumes her leadership responsibilities in mid-July 2026, she will make institutional history as the first female chief executive to guide the association since its founding 160 years ago. Her immediate brief involves navigating the non-profit organisation through a fresh phase of regional growth and localised community initiatives.

A core operational target for the incoming chief executive will be managing the rollout of the association’s “1 in 1 by 31” strategic growth policy. This regional development program aims to establish an active YMCA project within one mile of every single individual living inside its designated service area by the year 2031.

Moore is scheduled to replace temporary leaders Jim Migliaccio and Rhonda Ludwig. Migliaccio stepped down from his interim role on 31 May 2026 to enter retirement, while Ludwig is set to remain in her transitional post until Moore arrives at the branch.

“We conducted a comprehensive nationwide search, and Ericia stood out at every stage. Her energy, clear vision, and deep commitment to fostering inclusive environments are exactly what the YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo needs at this pivotal moment. Ericia has a proven track record of strategic leadership and innovative partnerships that align perfectly with our mission, and the Board is entirely confident that she is the leader who will guide us into a dynamic next chapter.”- Scott Nykaza, Board Chairman

The newly chosen executive joins the Kalamazoo team after accumulating more than 15 years of operational experience working within the third sector. She moves from the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast, where she performed the duties of VP of Operations and Social Responsibility for the past six years. During that tenure, Moore successfully improved annual member retention rates by 6% year on year, set up essential partnerships for summer camps and afterschool schemes, and directed a fundraising drive that increased charitable investment within an underserved local community. Academic credentials held by Moore include a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management obtained from the University of North Florida.

“Becoming the CEO of the Greater Kalamazoo YMCA is deeply personal for me—a true full-circle moment. As a servant leader, I’ve dedicated my career to creating the kind of access and opportunity that can change a life, especially in communities that need it most. I learned to swim, grew through sports like basketball, and discovered the power of belonging through the Y. I’m honored to lead an organization that serves as a cornerstone of community—bringing people together, strengthening families, and opening doors so every individual can thrive.” — Ericia Moore
