Wisp, the biggest women’s telehealth company in the U.S. that specialises in sexual and reproductive health services to women and has helped more than 1.4 million patients, announced a partnership with Origin, the largest women’s health and pelvic floor physical therapy provider in the country. Wisp patients can now take advantage of exclusive discounts to access Origin’s complete range of services, which includes therapies that are specifically designed to address postpartum healing, pre-pregnancy strengthening, and the alleviation of pain during sexual activity and symptoms associated with common and frequently chronic vaginal infections, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs).
The 2024 Origin Pelvic Health Study indicates that 83 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 59 report symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD). This figure is significantly higher among millennial women than among older Gen X women.
Pelvic floor symptoms are most likely to begin or become worse due to maternity or menopause. According to 79% of women who have given birth within the last five years, pelvic problems have a detrimental effect on their life. Wisp and Origin have partnered to offer Wisp members whole body and pelvic floor physical therapy options in addition to their current preventive treatment options and prescription medications, acknowledging that this demographic comprises a significant portion of both companies’ patient populations. Through Origin, Wisp patients may now receive 360-degree care, which includes virtual pelvic floor physical therapy throughout the country and in-person care in seven states. A detailed discussion of symptoms and associated medical history is part of the initial appointment. Movement and breathing are then assessed, and if necessary, an internal examination is performed to gauge the strength and synchronization of the pelvic floor muscles.
Treatments are then customized for each patient’s anatomy, including exercises to strengthen or relax the pelvic floor, methods to enhance muscle coordination, posture and breathing techniques, and advice on pain-free activity and everyday tasks.
“Women’s health is complex and multifaceted, requiring personalized care that addresses the specific needs of each individual,” said Origin CEO & Co-Founder Carine Carmy. “Origin and Wisp are dedicated to providing comprehensive, tailored solutions that empower women to prioritize their reproductive, sexual, and overall well-being.” Origin patients will receive a special discount on Wisp treatments, like STI and UTI care, fertility and menopause medications, and more, in addition to having access to Origin’s services. By directing patients to creative treatments and eliminating the stigma frequently connected to vaginal health, their collaboration seeks to educate women on the ubiquity of pelvic issues.
Monica Cepak, CEO of Wisp said, “Wisp is leading the charge in bringing taboo topics to the mainstream, giving attention to historically underserved and overlooked areas like menopause, STIs, fertility challenges, weight care and more. The pelvic floor sits at the forefront of women’s healthcare, and we’re thrilled to leverage a strategic partnership with Origin to address vaginal health holistically.”
