Thai Airways is upgrading its operations with advanced technology solutions from Amadeus as part of its extensive modernization efforts. The national airline aims to boost revenue and enhance the passenger travel experience in the post-pandemic era. As a key step in this transformation, Thai Airways has expanded and renewed its distribution agreement with Amadeus, reinforcing its travel retailing capabilities. This agreement ensures continued access for Amadeus travel sellers in Thailand to Thai Airways’ domestic content.

Thai Airways plans to enhance its website and mobile booking platforms to deliver a seamless and personalized travel experience. Utilizing the Amadeus Reference Experience, the airline will introduce a modern, responsive, and customizable user interface. This upgrade aims to streamline the booking process, enabling travelers to transition between devices effortlessly. Passengers will have the convenience to manage flight reservations, and check-in procedures, and handle any disruptions independently.

Thai Airways has integrated Amadeus Travel Ready, enabling international travelers to verify their travel documents such as passports and visas during online check-in. This enhancement aims to streamline airport processes by expediting manual document verification at check-in, bag drop, and boarding, thereby reducing wait times.

In addition, to maximize network revenue, Thai Airways will utilize Amadeus Network Revenue Management. This technology employs machine learning and customer choice modeling techniques to optimize pricing and availability decisions, facilitating route building through connecting hubs, codeshares, and partnerships.

Thai Airways will adopt Amadeus’ Xchange Payment Platform (XPP) from Outpayce, allowing the airline to accept global cards and alternative payment methods. XPP offers advanced orchestration, analytics, and connectivity with specialist partners for cross-border acquiring, authentication, and fraud management, aiming to optimize payment strategy and enhance acceptance rates.

Nuthaphol Amawatana, Head of Pricing and Revenue Management, Thai Airways said, “This is a major technology investment and upgrade for Thai Airways and will provide the building blocks of our business transformation. We’ll now be able to offer travelers a more modern and seamless booking experience whether they are visiting our website or searching for travel via our mobile app. We are also pleased to continue our content agreements with Amadeus and look forward to exploring new opportunities. Thai Airways is confident in its choice of Amadeus as a technology partner for the decades to come.”

Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Amadeus said, “Thai Airways has long been an important and strategic partner of Amadeus. The agreement signed today is a milestone for us and we look forward to working hand in hand with the carrier on its transformation journey. We are confident that our technology will continue to support Thai Airways’ growth ambitions and enable the carrier to achieve its business goals.”
