SGS has signed a global cooperation agreement with Yili Group, one of the world’s top five dairy enterprises, aimed at building greater trust across the dairy supply chain and promoting global standardisation in production, safety, sustainability, and innovation.
The signing took place at the Yili Modern Smart Health Valley in Hohhot. Jian Wang, General Manager of Agriculture and Food, China, signed on behalf of SGS, while Lyu Zhiyong, General Manager of Yili’s Quality Management Department, represented Yili Group. The event was witnessed by Charles Ly Wa Hoi, Head of Connectivity & Products and Health & Nutrition at SGS, and Liu Dapeng, Vice President of Yili Group.
Ahead of the signing, the SGS delegation toured several Yili facilities, including the National Dairy Technology Innovation Center, the Chilechuan Ecological Smart Pasture, and the Yili Modern Smart Health Valley. The visit provided insight into Yili’s integration of digitalization, low-carbon practices, and intelligent systems throughout its operations, a reflection of its philosophy, “from a blade of grass to a glass of milk.”
During the visit, both teams held detailed discussions on forage cultivation, milk supply quality, sustainable manufacturing, and product innovation. The exchanges offered a closer understanding of how China’s dairy industry is advancing high-quality growth.
Charles Ly Wa Hoi commented: “As a globally trusted leader in quality and integrity, SGS will play a pivotal role in advancing Yili’s global development strategy of ‘Comprehensive Value Leadership.’ We look forward to working together to build a sustainable future for healthy food.”
Liu Dapeng added: “The belief that ‘Yili means quality’ is deeply embedded in our corporate culture. Our long-standing partnership with SGS in food safety reflects this commitment. Today’s agreement is a promise to global consumers – Yili and SGS will jointly demonstrate the quality and reliability of China’s dairy industry to the world.”
Under the agreement, SGS will provide integrated services across four main areas: food safety and nutrition (testing, inspection, certification, and consultancy), laboratory training, zero-carbon initiatives (including audits and certification), and digital integration for streamlined data exchange.
The partnership aims to support Yili’s global growth strategy by enhancing product quality, promoting sustainable development, and improving operational efficiency across the dairy value chain.
