Masjid Al-Haram has started a project that provides a special transportation service for pilgrims who are women only. The all-female bus service is intended to improve convenience, privacy, and safety for women carrying out their religious rites, according to the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

The buses, which are positioned strategically close to the Al-Marwah Gate, are made to make it easier for people to move around the sacred site, especially when traffic is heavy. The service is anticipated to reduce traffic and give worshippers a smooth experience.

This project is in line with Saudi Arabia’s larger initiatives to upgrade the Grand Mosque’s logistical infrastructure, which welcomes millions of tourists each year. The buses would make it easier for female pilgrims to move throughout the mosque’s expansive grounds, enabling them to carry out their rites in a setting of spiritual calm, the presidency emphasized. To help women finish the latter stages of Umrah, a recently introduced Tahallul cart system has been put into place in addition to the bus service. These specialized carts, which are situated close to Bab Al-Marwah, are run solely by female employees and offer pilgrims a secluded area where they can complete the Ihram exit ceremony. To uphold hygienic standards and guarantee a seamless procedure, the carts are furnished with sterile instruments.

Increasing the number of worship sessions

The General Authority has also implemented mobile units that provide sterile shaving and haircutting services for male pilgrims as part of its efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience. Worshippers can now finish their Umrah without delays at five specific locations close to the Marwah area, with professional personnel overseeing operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to safety regulations.
